About
Hey! I’m Alexiss and I’m a character animator! I’ve had the incredible blessing to study animation and have come to really love it for the work and the people. I’m excited that I will never learn it all — there will always be more to learn. There will always be more ways to push myself and explore new areas. Studying animation has been one of the most challenging and yet most rewarding things I’ve had the opportunity to do.
I’m currently a student at Animation Mentor - an incredible online animation school ran by professional animators. I’m in my final term at AM, working on finishing up my short film! The entire program is amazing and the people in the AM community are some of the most talented people I’ve had the chance to study with. Animators are some of the most passionate and genuine people I know and I can’t wait to have the great opportunity and blessing to work with them.
I graduated from Brigham Young University in August of 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Yes, I know it’s a completely unrelated field to art but it taught me how to think in many different ways. I worked my way through college by working on computers, I studied Psychology, and I did on Art on the side (the side of all my note papers and textbooks that is). It was during my senior year at college I had a bit of a wake up call and decided that it was finally time to get back to doing something I really enjoy doing.
Right now I live in Salt Lake City, Utah where I’m working on my film, with the occasional distraction trip out to sunny California every couple of months.
If you want to know more about my animation experience so far, check out my progress reels, linked on the side of my blog. I’ve been able to learn so much in such a short time at Animation Mentor. You can also check out the Animation Mentor newsletter from June 2006 when I had the great opportunity to share my experience! (Animation Mentor newsletter - June 2006)
I also had the chance to share a little bit about Animation Mentor to Utahns via KSL’s nightly news!
