Hey, I’m Alexiss! I’m an Animation Mentor and Brigham Young University alum! I am currently working as a Character Animator at Reel FX in Dallas, Texas!
I started at Animation Mentor as a student who knew nothing about Maya or animation in 2007 and 18 months later found myself heading to my first gig to work on a film! I’ve had the great opportunities to work at Blue Sky Studios on Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and at Lumenas Animation Studios on The Legend of Santa Claus. I then went on to work at Animation Mentor HQ on Bishop 2.0 and the new Animals & Creatures curriculum. After a few months of traveling abroad, I moved to Texas to work at Reel FX where I have worked on a Despicable Me project for Universal Studios, Free Birds, The Book of Life, and the upcoming film, Rock Dog. I count myself blessed to get to be a part of this amazing industry.
I’m a Utah girl and I love to explore and do new things. I’ve had the chance to bounce from place to place and meet a lot of interesting, passionate people. I love the people in this industry and the further I get into it the more I love and appreciate the opportunity to be in it. What other place can I be a geek who loves cartoons and and still be cool? I love life and getting to know people.
Before becoming an animator I was a psychiatric technician in a lockdown children’s hospital, an Adobe specialist, a pottery instructor, an IT girl, and worked at a toy store. Now I’m an animator who is into photography, travel, and trying to get outdoors as much as possible.
